What is Authentic Writing?

Authentic writing makes a writer or a business unique and real.

Whether your business is large or small, if you are looking to reach and connect with more clients and customers, it pays to identify the real personality of your business and then speak to your audience with that voice. We resonate with the voices of people and businesses who reflect our own values and personalities. Authenticity in your communication builds rapport and trust with your customers. If they want to prosper, businesses today must build relationships with their customers and create a condition of trust on both sides of the counter. Our customers are looking for businesses they can depend on, and we are looking for customers who want to build that relationship with us. Figuring out what your business’ voice is, and using it, will find and attract the customers who resonate with your voice and your message.

This is especially significant now that the business world has switched from trying to look huge and invincible to trying to look personable and individual. With the evolution of the Internet and social media, a business’s prosperity depends even more on creating real connections with its customers. Have you visited the websites of any of the really big corporations, with their ”life-like” Help Page avatars named Jenn or Mike? This is their attempt to create that warmer connection with customers without spending the time or money it takes to create a human-to-human connection. Did it work for you? It didn’t work for me, either. Why? Because we know they aren’t real. Ever decide to call a company’s 800 number because you know that speaking to “a real person” will solve your problem quicker than using the avatar? Me, too. Customers prefer doing business with real people.

So, be real. Be authentic. Be yourself and your best customers and clients will find you.
